Ruth Rajpati was born July 18, 1940 to Drusilla and Sumundra Pargass in Plaisance Village, Guyana. To her parents she was always Daughter. Ruth’s siblings are Selo, Baby, Rupert, Elsie, Stephen, and Rita, and her adopted brother Simon.
Ruth attended Better Hope Presbyterian School and worshipped at Better Hope Presbyterian Church.
Because of her zeal for Christian Education, she was chosen to teach Sunday School while still a teenager. After her elementary education, Ruth attended Shorthand and Typewriting School  in Georgetown. Then, from 1956 she attended Carnegie School of Home Economics and graduated in 1959.
After school on weekdays, on Saturdays, and during school holidays, Ruth helped with the family business at Plaisance and with her Dad’s clothing store on Water Street in Georgetown.
On December 31, 1961 Ruth got married to Frederick Mallay.  For a while, they lived at Springlands on the Corentyne where Frederick, a civil servant, worked. When he was transferred to Georgetown, they lived at Better Hope. Meanwhile, the family was growing with 5 boys: Trevor, Naren, Greg, Nick, and Jayme.
In 1977 Ruth migrated to America with the boys to join her husband. They lived in Manhattan. Soon the marriage terminated, and Ruth and 4 of the boys eventually went to live in Brooklyn.
While they lived in Manhattan, Ruth worked at a lace manufacturing company, and at night she attended G.E.D. classes. When, eventually, she was laid off, she qualified for re-training, and she chose Data Entry. That helped her to get a job at Maimonides Hospital where she worked until retirement.
While they lived in an apartment in Brooklyn, the boys attended high school and college. Ruth knew the value of education, and she made sure that her sons attended college. After some hard work and a great deal of sacrifice, Ruth, with the assistance of her sons, bought a beautiful 2 family house on Marlborough Road.
In Brooklyn, Ruth attended Beverly Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and later as a deacon.
After a period of illness, Ruth went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 8, 2010. She leaves to remember her five sons, Vanessa, and eleven grandchildren.
